Scripture Union Daily Guide 20th August 2026 Outline
Observe how Moses brings Israel to recognize the special place they have in God’s plan as a chosen nation. He uses past experiences to demonstrate the uniqueness of God and His special relationship with them. What are the seven amazing means God used in the life of Israel to testify that the Lord is God and that there is none like Him (Deuteronomy 4:34)?
For all that God did for them, Moses reminds the Israelites again that the only response is to acknowledge Him as the only God and to obey Him. Obedience always precedes blessings (Deuteronomy 4:40). It will be unwise to disobey such a loving and powerful God! And serving Him is the best option.
Consider how the God of justice requests the Israelites to practise justice and mercy (Deuteronomy 4:41-43). In case of accidental murder, refuge can be sought in three cities that will provide shelter to them.
Moses repeats and explains God’s Law given at Mount Sinai to the new generation who are about to take possession of Canaan. Like the Jews, we also need to be constantly reminded and instructed in God’s Word to live abundant lives.
